Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Observation Checklist

Interpret and match propellers and component defect reports (removal tags) or customer order by part and serial numbers 
Inspect and operate components through prescribed test procedures to establish serviceability or confirm defects, as required 
Establish modification status to assist in determining the overhaul requirements for the components 
Identify extent of overhaul or repair and document in accordance with standard enterprise procedures 
Use available information from maintenance records and test results, when required, to assist in fault determination 
Use logical processes to ensure efficient and accurate troubleshooting 
Obtain specialist advice, when required, to assist with, or to confirm, the fault and rectification requirement 
Locate propeller component faults and identify the causes of the faults 
Determine fault rectification requirements to assist in planning the repair 
Dismantle propeller component parts in accordance with maintenance manuals while observing all relevant work health and safety (WHS) requirements, including the use of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and items of personal protective equipment (PPE) 
Assess component parts for serviceability in accordance with the relevant maintenance documentation 
Tag parts requiring specialist repair and specify repair instructions in accordance with standard enterprise procedures 
Prepare parts requiring non-destructive testing (NDT) for testing in accordance with the relevant maintenance documentation 
Compile and process parts lists in accordance with standard enterprise procedures 
Repair or replace component parts in accordance with the relevant maintenance documentation 
Modify components or parts, when required, by relevant manufacturers’ bulletins or procedures 
Assemble component parts within specified tolerances and in accordance with the appropriate maintenance documents while observing all relevant WHS requirements, including the use of MSDSs and items of PPE 
Adjust, test and calibrate propeller components to operate within prescribed specifications, and seek required supervisory guidance for complex testing and adjustments 
Tag, seal and pack finished components in accordance with standard enterprise procedures 
Complete required maintenance documentation and modification records and process in accordance with standard enterprise procedures
